Two weekends ago, Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Don drove in from Ohio for a visit. It had been a few months since we had seen them last, so Noah was very excited! This has been a tough winter for traveling. Whenever they had a date set to visit, Mother Nature would decide to dump a bunch of snow and thwart their plans. But we won the game this time, and they had beautiful weather for their drive in.
Grandma and Grandpa always bring a bag of goodies for Noah, and they let him open it up right away. (Yeah, he gets spoiled!) Noah got some new Matchbox cars and a bunch of stickers and art supplies to make St. Patrick’s Day and Easter decorations. Lucky boy!
And we gave Grandma her belated birthday presents.
Grandma and Grandpa got to experience one of Noah’s favorite traditions: Saturday breakfast from Dunkin’ Donuts! No matter the variety of donuts we get, the glazed donuts always win out with Noah.
The weather was GORGEOUS that Saturday. We finally got to sit out on the deck and soak up some sun, and Noah had a great time kicking around the soccer ball that Uncle Chris got him for Christmas.
One of our favorite things about having family visit is FREE BABYSITTING…jackpot! Ryan and I went out for burgers and fries Saturday night, and we stopped by the toy store on the way home (so much easier without Noah!). And let’s face it, Ryan loves Matchbox cars too, and he likes to thoroughly ponder the selection before buying…a task that’s not as easy when Noah is around. Indeed, it’s hard to manage both the kids (the big one and the little one) in the toy store at the same time! Here is one of Noah’s new trucks from our trip. It’s hard to imagine Ryan picking out a fire truck, right? Ha.
While we were on our date, Noah decorated a green shamrock butterfly with Grandma and Grandpa. These are some good looking leprechauns!
Unfortunately, Noah’s shamrock butterfly didn’t bring us too much luck though, as it snowed like crazy the next evening. Old Man Winter will not go away! We got eight inches of snow Sunday evening, so all the schools and government offices were closed on Monday. I know that doesn’t seem like a lot of snow to our friends and family back home in Ohio and South Dakota, but it’s enough to shut down this urban area for awhile. Yeah, we’re weak!
We took Noah outside to play that afternoon. Grandma and Grandpa stayed inside, but they watched Noah sledding from the window. Bring your boots next time, Grandpa and Grandpa, so you can play too!
Fortunately, there was plenty of fun to be had indoors too. Noah kept his grandpa (well, “Papa-a-Don” as he calls him) busy playing trains, trains and more trains.
Here are some more photos of Noah playing with his grandparents. Our good friend Barbara got in on the fun too. Noah had a great time!
We can’t wait to see you again in a few months, Grandma and Grandpa!
