This past weekend we went to Takoma Park Play Day in Takoma Park, MD. This annual event is sponsored by the community group Takoma Plays and the city’s Recreation Department. There were many activities for the kids – outdoor games, Zumba, making mud pies and so on – but we were there for the trucks.
The city provided a variety of public works vehicles (primarily BIG trucks) for kids to sit in and explore…and of course, HONK! Noah sat in and “steered” a street sweeper, garbage truck, dump truck, loader, tractor and Bobcat skid loader – so many trucks!
Noah also got an up-close look at a fire truck from Montgomery County and an ambulance from Takoma Park.
We didn’t spend quite the entire time looking at the trucks though. Noah and Ryan snuck in a few minutes of a giant game of Connect 4 as well. Can you guess who won?
What a great way to enjoy a beautiful day! Who knew that parked vehicles could be so cool? We will definitely keep a lookout for more truck rallies…and we’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned!
