Last Thursday Grandpa Rod flew out from South Dakota to visit us for a long weekend. The main reason for his visit was to help us with a few house and deck projects. But don’t worry, we had a lot of fun too!
Friday morning Grandpa walked Noah to the bus stop. Noah was so excited to show Grandpa his school bus! Here’s a picture of them patiently waiting…
Grandpa and Ryan were still busy when Noah got home from school, so I took Noah to the Lego store so that they could keep working. Playing at the hands-on area at the Lego store is one of Noah’s favorite outings!
Since we were there for nearly two hours, I of course felt compelled (kinda obligated) to buy something. So after supper the boys put together this super cool Audi racecar. Check it out!
Noah and I tried to stay out of the way as much as possible on Saturday too, so we ventured to Old Town Alexandria. Here’s a photo of Noah on the metro…
We picked apples at the farmers market (so yummy!), checked out a few stores, had a snack at Starbucks, and rode the King Street trolley.
We brought home cupcakes from Lavender Moon Cupcakery too. And yes, we shared! Mmmmm…
The next morning Grandpa Rod got to join us for one of our favorite weekend activities – Dunkin’ Donuts!
All weekend Noah asked Ryan and Grandpa Rod if he could help (he wanted to be with the boys), so after breakfast he helped them spread sand between the new pavers. That was actually the perfect job for the short one! And yeah, I hope he still loves yard work in ten years! Ha.
Later that day after all the work was done (well, enough of it anyway), we took Grandpa to two of Noah’s favorite nearby parks.
Yep, it was a great afternoon to be outside…and it was a great way to wind down from the busy weekend too.
Grandpa flew home Monday morning. It was a short visit, but we got a lot done around the house, and we had a lot of fun too. Visit again soon, Grandpa Rod…and bring Grandma Debbie too!
